Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has expressed growing frustration over the prolonged delay in securing a title unification bout with reigning champion Jon Jones. Since capturing the interim title in November 2023 and successfully defending it against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, Aspinall has been eager to face Jones to unify the heavyweight division. However, nearly 600 days have passed without the fight materializing, leaving Aspinall in a state of uncertainty.

Aspinall has openly discussed the mental toll this limbo has taken on him, stating, "It's kind of difficult mentally, but this is the fight against Jon Jones."  He has also highlighted the lack of communication from Jones' camp, expressing confusion over the champion's reluctance to commit to the bout.

Adding to the frustration, Aspinall's father, Andy Aspinall, has been vocal about the situation, criticizing both Jones and the UFC for the ongoing delays. He remarked, "It's stupid. I have no idea the reason why the UFC don't really want Tom to fight anybody else other than Jon Jones."

Meanwhile, Jon Jones has not provided a clear timeline for his return, with some speculating that financial negotiations and concerns over legacy may be factors in the delay.  Jones has also made cryptic social media posts, further fueling uncertainty about his intentions.

UFC President Dana White has assured fans that the fight will happen, but as of now, no official date has been set.  The prolonged wait has led to growing impatience among fans and fighters alike, with many calling for clarity on the future of the heavyweight division.
